Dr. Maria Law

Dr. Maria Law, Ph.D.

Dr. Maria Law is :
  • the President of the newly founded Hong Kong College of Radiographers and Radiation Therapists,
  • the Vice-President of the Asia Australasian Region of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists,
  • the Associate Professor in the Department of Health Technology and Informatics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and
  • the visiting Associate Professor of the Department of Radiology in the University of Southern California.
She is also actively engaged in the subcommittees of the Radiographers Board and the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong.
Maria started her career as a qualified Radiation Therapist in Radiation Oncology Departments in Hong Kong. She began her teaching career in the School of Radiotherapy of the Hong Kong Government after acquiring the Teachers’ Diploma of the UK College. She then obtained the Bachelor degree in Religious Sciences in 1993, the Master of Philosophy degree in 2000 and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2004.
Being a healthcare professional of a technology nature, Maria has interests in both humanity and imaging informatics. She is one of the founders of the PolyU PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and is now the PACS co-ordinator. Based on the PACS architecture, Maria has developed a DICOM-based electronic patient record system in Radiation Therapy and is working towards getting some intelligence out of the system.
